Artist Statement//

I often play in the great register of feelings and moods and I use a variety of techniques to express myself and create. I become obsessed, I constantly visualize the art work. It haunts me to the point where I can no longer resist the need of seeing it materialize. With its birth comes its growth. The image I had in my mind starts to modify and adapt itself to the needs of the art work. A dialogue takes place between technique, color, composition and harmony. I fall under the spell of light, contrasts, forms and textures. The art work takes a life of its own and sweeps me in its universe, whether it be a symbolic, realistic or abstract one.

Artist statement

I identify myself to those contemporary artists that sacrifice quantity for quality. I always pay close attention to details and I’m easily inspired by masters such as Rembrant, Caravagio and Vermeer. Contemporary artists like Andrew Wyeth, André Pitre, Anthony Rider, David Leffel and the list goes on, are also a source of inspiration and influence.

It sometime happens that some of my work is perceived as imagery because of its realistic nature but making a pretty image is never my objective. My goal is rather to understand the relation between my sense of visual harmony and my emotional response. I also like to create a reaction from the observer. I don’t feel the need to provoke, nor to underline this world’s misery; I prefer to emphasize beauty, even the one hidden underneath an old wrinkled skin.
